wintranslation’s president and founder Huiping Zhang accepted the Women’s Business Enterprise of the Year Award on behalf of wintranslation at the WEConnect International in Canada National Conference in Toronto in late 2016.

The Women Business Enterprise of the Year Award is presented to three certified businesses across Canada who have established fruitful relationships with corporations. To be considered for the award, nominees had to show their success through supplier diversity and support to other WEConnect International certified women-owned businesses.

“Women business owners often face different obstacles than men. WEConnect International is a great outlet and community for women business owners; it offers guidance and new business opportunities. People don’t often imagine a woman running a company providing business support for large corporations and government,” says Huiping. “This award is a recognition of wintranslation’s accomplishments, but also a recognition of what women can achieve as entrepreneurs.”

This national award follows a highly successful first year for wintranslation as a certified women-owned business. Although wintranslation only received its WEConnect International certification last year, the company has been very active in exploring and leveraging the different opportunities the certification can make possible.

Huiping attended her first WEConnect International event in 2015 at the National Conference in Toronto. Over the course of two days, she had the opportunity to network with more than 100 corporate representatives and fellow women entrepreneurs. By the end of the conference, she had met the right contacts to secure business with tier one corporate members of WEConnect International.

Then in June 2016, Huiping and Frédérique Mantha (Account Manager) participated in a Trade Mission to Orlando, Florida to attend the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference and Business Fair. Huiping and Frédérique divided and conquered at these events, this allowed wintranslation to network and nurture some existing business relationships with some of the world’s leaders in retail and in the semi-conductor industry. The trade mission was a first for wintranslation and opened our eyes to how big these opportunities can be. It also reiterated the idea that even as a small business, wintranslation can provide first-rate translation services to the biggest of corporations.

The certification along with the events has facilitated some significant business opportunities for wintranslation and opened many new doors. “WEConnect is an added advantage for any women that owns a business. It is such a good opportunity and it just makes really good business sense.” says Huiping. With this award in hand, wintranslation plans on continuing to expand its partnerships with not only women-owned businesses but also with diversity suppliers in general. We invite you to do the same! And you can start by choosing wintranslation!
