Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I book my interpreter through Wintranslation.com?

Our interpreters are trained professionals with many years of experience, and most are certified by the Ministry of the Attorney General. Our policy is to only send qualified professionals. We would rather say no to the client than send an inexperienced interpreter.

Do you only have interpreters in Canada?

No. Compared to other agencies that have interpreters only in the U.S. or only in Canada, we have interpreters from both countries. Wintranslation.com is a member of the Michigan Translators/Interpreters Network and has partnered with companies such as Lingua Science Corporation to best serve our customers.

How much does it cost?

The cost for an interpreter's service is $220. This fee covers the cost of the interpreter for up to three hours. If the appointment goes beyond three hours, additional time will be charged at a rate of $50 per hour.

How can I pay?

By PayPal or credit card:

Where is the Consulate located?

The office of the Canadian Consulate General at Detroit is located in the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit. The Renaissance Center is probably the most prominent structure on the Detroit skyline. You'll easily recognize it because it is actually a cluster of round towers with dark/reflective glass. The Consulate office is in the 600 Tower of the "Ren Cen" (as it is often referred to locally), on the 11th floor.

Where do I go?
  • From downtown Windsor, take the Windsor-Detroit tunnel, the entrance of which is located on Goyeau St. between Wyandotte St. and Park St. When you pass through American customs and come to the lights at the mouth of the tunnel, the Renaissance Center is on your immediate right - you can't miss it. If you do not have a vehicle, there is a tunnel bus that leaves from Windsor's downtown bus terminal (click here for details on Tunnel Bus service)
  • From other Canadian cities, take the 401 West to Windsor. Take the exit that says "To Tunnel to U.S." - this exit will bring you onto Dougal Avenue. Continue traveling north on Dougal. After a while, you will pass through an "S"-shaped curve - at this point Dougal becomes Ouellette Avenue. Continue traveling north on Ouellette. We are located at 545 Ouellette Ave., Suite 201 (just north of Wyandotte Street).
  • When you get to the Renaissance Center, find the 600 building, and take the elevator to the eleventh floor. There will be a reception window on your right. Tell them that you are there for your appointment, and they will direct you appropriately.

How do I know who my interpreter is?

All wintranslation.com interpreters wear a company badge when they attend interviews. The badge has a picture of the interpreter, which languages they translate and which company they represent. Since we always inform the client of their interpreter's name, you can easily find your interpreter by looking at their badge.

Do I get a confirmation after the interpreter is booked?

Yes, we always call you to confirm the appointment. We also tell you the name of your interpreter.

My profession is highly technical and specialized. I am concerned that my interpreter might not be familiar with the terminology used. What can you do in this situation?

In this case, we recommend you send us your job description and work history or any information that you think can help the interpreter better understand your profession.

What happens when I have to cancel appointments?

In order to receive a full refund, you must notify wintranslation.com at least 48 hours in advance for cancellations (weekends excluded). Otherwise, full fee applies.
