THE MOST OUT OF SEARCH ENGINES: WTB PARTNERS
WITH FOOTPRINT AGENCY |
| by
Huiping Iler |
|
You
built a website and you put it online. It
looks very professional; especially the
eye catching Flash opening. So what happens
next? Do you wait for clients to rush in
the door - can that really happen? Few of
us know that in order to be found by potential
clients through search engines, there are
many factors involved. Recently wintranslation.com teamed up with search engine optimization
firm Footprint Agency, in an effort to improve
our search engine rankings. Our goal is
to have WTB ranked in the top ten sites
when clients look for translation services
and type in a translation related phrase.
After making a few minor changes to our
website, we are already seeing results.
For example, when a client needs an interpreter
to attend an interview at the Canadian Consulate
General, by searching for "Canadian
Consulate General Detroit" in Google,
one can easily find WTB (ranked no. 2).
Actually for search results under that term,
we rank higher than even the Consulate itself!
J Our search engine optimization project
is still ongoing. We will report to you
as we learn more!
Tip: Web sites designed using frames are
very UNFRIENDLY to search engine spiders.
Consider replacing your frames with tables.

SPONSORS CANADIAN CONSULATE GENERAL DRAGON
BOAT RACE TEAM |
by
Sandra Bologna |
After two rounds of practices in
prior weeks, the four of us from WTB (Ryan,
Sandra, Yi, and Huiping) were ready on July
20 to race in the annual dragon boat race
as part of the Canadian Consulate General
team. Hats were on, sleeves rolled up, chant
practiced - we were excited and the crowds
by the riverfront electrified the atmosphere.
But soon, interesting events started to unroll.
Boats after boats flipped over and with many
people struggling to get out of the water,
the police couldn't keep up with the rescuing
efforts. Event organizers tried to continue
after the first couple of incidents, but after
six boats went down, the whole thing was called
off. As disappointed as we were, we felt lucky
not having to be rescued by the police on
the river.
WTB was a proud sponsor of the Canadian Consulate
team.
