Maithili is an Indo-European language, spoken in the Indian
state of Bihar and in the eastern Terai region
of Nepal.
Bihar is a state situated in the eastern part of India. It
is bordered on the north by the Kingdom of Nepal, on the west
by Uttar Pradesh, south by Jharkhand, and the east by West
Bengal. At present, the language has about 30 million speakers
in the 26 districts of N.E. Bihar.
