Dari Language

Dari is one of the official languages in Afghanistan, with the other being Pashto. The name Dari refers to the modern dialect of the Persian language which is the standardized language used in administrative, Government, television, radio and other media in the country. There are approximately 18 million native speakers of the language.

The Dari language could be viewed as a more formal form of the Farsi language. The differences are mainly in the pronunciation of words and the written languages are largely the same. Many languages have been influenced in some way by the Dari language including Urdu, Gujarati and Punjabi.
