Looking For A Mohawk Translation Service? We Can Help!

Mohawk (Kenien’kéka or Kanyen’kehà:kais) one of the languages spoken by the Indigenous people of Canada. There are also tribes who speak Mohawk in parts of New York. There are around 3500 speakers of this language as of 2007, although there has been a strong effort to revive the language in recent years. Many within native territory now teach the language from kindergarten through to  grade 8 and language classes are offered to adults.

What do I need to know about Indigenous Languages?

Did you know?
The native name for the Mohawk language, Kanien’kéha, means ‘people of the flint’, while the term ‘Mohawk’ comes from a name meaning ‘man-eaters’.

Did you know?
Mohawk has three major dialects: Western (Ohswé:ken and Kenhté:ke), Central (Ahkwesáhsne), and Eastern (Kahnawà:ke and Kanehsatà:ke) (Source: Wikipedia)

The Mohawk language is currently classified as threatened, and the number of native speakers has continually declined over the past several years. We’re proud to do our part through our Mohawk translation services to help revive and nurture endangered Indigenous languages.

“I had a great experience working with wintranslation. I called first to get an idea of what specific Indigenous dialect I would need translation into based on my program’s region and they were very helpful. I received a quick response back on my request for a quote and prompt and polite service throughout the entire interaction. In addition, receipt of my e-mail was acknowledged in a timely manner even though my consultant was out of the office for the afternoon which helped to put my mind at ease.”
